Sitting at a altitude of 8,405 feet it has a ranking of #12 on the World’s Highest Commercial Airports list and # 9 on the South America’s Highest Commercial Airports list. Rodriguez Ballon International Airport is a limited International player with flights to neighboring Santiago Chile, with the majority of flights to Lima and other airports through out Peru.

 Rodriguez Ballon International Airport has become a major entry point for tourist and adventure seekers visiting the worlds deepest canyons, Cotahuasi Canyon, 235 miles and a 14 hour drive through rough terrain from Arequipa and Coca Canyon located about 100 mile’s northwest of Arequipa. Rodriguez Ballon International Airport sits at the base of pictures 19,101 ft El Misti, one of Peru’s stratovolcanos. 

 Housed in a 2 story terminal, Rodriguez Ballon International Airport provides limited facilities for the traveling public.  A restaurant, snack bar, bank, money exchange as well as car rental and hotel information can be found in the terminal.
